Raw Feeding FAQ – Lancashire Dog Treats
Raw Feeding FAQ – Lancashire Dog Treats
Welcome to our Raw Feeding FAQ page. Below you'll find the most common questions we receive about feeding your dog a raw, biologically appropriate diet – with honest, simple answers from our canine nutrition experts.
What is raw dog food?
Raw dog food is a natural, minimally processed diet made from raw meat, bones, organs, vegetables, and functional botanicals. It mirrors what dogs would eat in the wild and supports better digestion, energy, dental health, and coat condition.
What makes your raw food different?
Our raw food is:
-
Made with 100% British ingredients
-
Balanced with 80% meat, bone, and organs, and 20% vegetables and botanicals
-
Grain-free, filler-free, and vet approved
-
Formulated by canine nutrition specialists
Are your meals complete and balanced?
Yes. All of our own brand meals are designed to meet the daily nutritional needs of adult working dogs. Each recipe includes the right proportions of muscle meat, edible bone, organs, and plant-based additions.
Note: Some raw feeders choose to make their ownmeals using the 80|10|10 ranges we offer from other brands (80% meat, 10% bone, 10% offal), which are considered DIY raw diets. These are a good foundation, but they are not nutritionally complete on their own. We always recommend adding appropriate vegetables and botanicals to provide fibre, vitamins, and anti-inflammatory support for a balanced diet.
Can all dog breeds eat raw food?
Absolutely. Raw feeding is suitable for all dog breeds, from Chihuahuas to German Shepherds. We help you adjust portion sizes based on breed, weight, and lifestyle.

Why rotate proteins?

Do your recipes include bone?
Yes. Bone is a natural source of calcium and phosphorus, vital for bone strength and digestion. We use only edible, ground bone that is safe and easy to absorb.
What are the vegetables and botanicals for?
We include beneficial vegetables like carrots, broccoli, and parsnips, plus botanicals like flaxseed oil, kelp, turmeric, celery seeds, and alfalfa to support digestion, skin health, and inflammation reduction.
Can I switch my dog to raw food right away?
Most dogs transition well with a 24 hour fast and then straight onto the raw food, however a small number of dogs may need a gradual switch over 3–7 days. Contact us if you'd like help building a transition plan.
Do I need to add supplements?
Some dogs thrive on our complete meals without the need for extras. However, certain dogs may benefit from additional supplementation depending on their individual needs. These may include:
-
Senior dogs with joint issues (e.g. glucosamine or green-lipped mussel)
-
Dogs with skin or coat problems (e.g. extra omega-3 from fish oil)
-
Puppies during rapid growth phases (with guidance from a professional)
-
Dogs recovering from illness or with specific deficiencies
Our meals provide a solid foundation, but if you're unsure whether your dog may need extra support, we're happy to advise you.
How do I store and serve your raw food?
-
Keep tubs frozen until ready to use
