Spring Shedding

Spring Shedding

Spring shedding

Spring’s creeping in, the mornings are getting brighter, and suddenly your dog is dropping hair and fluff like it’s going out of fashion.

Spring shedding is absolutely normal for dogs. As the days get lighter and the weather warms up, their body naturally starts ditching that thicker winter coat and swapping it for a lighter summer one. It’s a well‑known seasonal pattern, especially here in the UK where winter and spring feel like two completely different planets. Most owners see a change between February and May.

Some dogs do it a little while others explode like a walking dandelion! Double‑coated breeds like labs, collies, huskies and shepherds shed the most because they’ve got that dense winter undercoat to lose. You can brush them until your arm aches, but the amount they shed is mostly down to biology.

What can make a difference, though, is how healthy the new coat grows in. That’s where diet comes in. If the body isn’t getting the right nutrients, you’ll see it in the coat first.

Spring is like a full reset for their coat. Support their skin now and the new fur grows in stronger and shinier. Omega oils, proper protein and nutrients from real food all help the skin do its job properly.

That’s why we made our Lancashire Dog Treats Skin and Coat Boosters, a simple way to help dogs through this itchy, fluffy phase and support shine and healthy skin.
