Brighter Skies for Storm and Thunder

Every month we’re sharing real dog stories from Lancashire Dog Treats, and this month it's duo Storm and her puppy Thunder.

Storm has spent years mothering everyone else’s puppies, so when she finally had her own she took to it brilliantly - helped along by the advice, support and raw food she’s always had from Lancashire Dog Treats.

Meet Storm

Storm and Thunder’s story

Storm is an all‑black German Shepherd with a calm, steady way about her, and she’s spent years mothering other people’s puppies after going through several false and phantom pregnancies of her own. When her owner’s friend had a Cane Corso litter that was rejected by the mum, Storm stepped straight in cleaning them, settling them, and gently scooping up any pup who tried to make a break for it! She treated them like they were her own, with the pups even trying to feed from her.

Happily, on 15th December 2025, Storm finally got her own puppy, one perfect all‑black boy called Thunder. Just the one pup, but Storm has treated him like the most important job she’s ever had. She’s barely taken her eyes off him feeding him, cleaning him and being the best mum you could hope for.

Storm’s owner Sharon, said: “Storm hasn’t just become a mum, she’s become an extraordinary one and I’m so proud of her. She’s always mothered other people’s pups so seeing her finally get her own has been really special.

“Storm thrives on a raw diet and has been fed LDT raw food for years. The shop in Chorley, run by Kelly, has been a huge support throughout Storm’s pregnancy and Thunder’s early weeks. Kelly’s advice on nutrition, pregnancy and puppy care has made a real difference, and it’s helped keep Storm strong and energetic the whole way through. When Thunder reached four weeks old, I wanted to give him the same brilliant start. He was gradually weaned straight onto LDT raw and is now fully on it and thriving.”

Why raw works

Owners see a healthier coat, better digestion, smaller, firmer poos, more balanced energy and dogs super excited for mealtimes with some great flavours.  Storm is a great example of a dog who’s thrived on raw long‑term, and Thunder is already following in her footsteps.
