Dog of the month

Dog of the month

Boss dog energy

Meet Rubie, Lancashire Dog Treat’s Dog of the Month who is full of character and keeps everyone on their toes. This small but mighty 1‑year‑old Miniature Dachshund has her whole household (and her brothers) wrapped around her gorgeous tiny paws.

Meet Rubie

Breed: Miniature Dachshund

Age: 1

Favourite food: LDT raw meat (duck is her top choice)

Favourite treat: Pizzle stick

Favourite toy: Pink bouncy ball

Loves: Cuddles and running free on the dog field

Dislikes: Rain

Special talent: Getting her own way!

Rubie might be small, but she’s got a big, fun personality and definitely knows her own mind. Out on walks she takes charge, often being a little bossy while her brothers Ernie and Bobby trot along behind her. At home she is all about comfort and affection, and she has endless love for the humans in her life. If there’s a lap available, she’s on it! Rubie is especially close to the LDT family because she came from Dottie’s litter, so Kelly has known her from day one and that support has continued as she’s grown.

Rubie’s owner shared:

“Kelly has continued to support Rubie and offered me advice on feeding, behaviour and nail trims. Following a discussion with Kelly, I have also chosen to have the titre blood test done for Rubie. This showed she had sufficient antibodies so didn’t need to be vaccinated this year.”

Titre testing checks whether your dog already has protective antibodies from previous core vaccinations, rather than automatically repeating boosters that your dog may not need.

After lots of interest, Lancashire Dog Treats will be holding a titre testing clinic in the near future, making it easier for local owners to access testing and make informed choices.

If you’d like your dog to be featured as a future LDT Dog of the Month, let us know so we can share your story. We love hearing about them.
