Dog of the Month:

How Fozzie Found His Raw Feeding Appetite Again

Real dog stories from Lancashire Dog Treats!

Every month we’re sharing real dog stories from Lancashire Dog Treats, and we’re starting with Fozzie - a lovable Cockapoo whose fussy eating had his family at their wits’ end.  Like so many parents with young children, they’d moved away from raw because it felt safer and easier in a busy house. But that switch was exactly when Fozzie’s fussiness began… and his journey back to raw finally got his tail wagging again!

Meet Fozzie, a 5-year-old male Cockapoo!

Favourite food: Raw meals, especially beef and venison flavours from Lancashire Dog Training’s Raw Food

Favourite treat: Rabbit ears, any hoof

Favourite toy: Chuck-it balls, he’ll never stop playing fetch

Loves: Family cuddles, zoomies, being the centre of attention, playing fetch

Dislikes: The post lady, lollipop lady or refuse collectors (not a fan of those hi-vis or bright jackets!)  Squirrels in the garden

Special talent: Professional door‑opener and full‑time favourite hooman‑finder

Fozzie’s Story

Fozzie actually started life on raw food and thrived as a puppy. But like many families with young children in the house, his owners later switched him to a well‑known commercial brand. With little hands exploring everything and mealtimes feeling hectic, at the time they moved away from raw. It’s a really common choice for busy parents, but it also happened to be the point where Fozzie’s fussiness began.

His owner said that some days he’d eat his food, some days he’d look at them like he’d been served cardboard. Their kids even asked why their dog wasn’t like a normal dog who eats food?  Well… they definitely don’t ask that anymore.

When Fozzie Met Kelly

After months of frustration, Fozzie’s family visited Kelly at Lancashire Dog Treats. Kelly stepped in with a mix of knowledge and reassurance - especially around feeding raw safely with children in the house - along with her genuine care.

Fozzie’s owner explained: “Kelly didn’t just hand me a box of food. She weighed Fozzie, worked out exactly how much he needed, talked me through the transition, and made sure I felt confident. It wasn’t just advice, I felt like it was personalised support from someone who genuinely cares.”

Using principles from raw feeding, high‑quality meat, natural ingredients, and a diet closer to what dogs would eat in the wild, LDT can make sure dogs return to a complete and balanced raw plan.

A New Dog in Days

“Now, as soon as his bowl hits the floor, Fozzie literally woofs it down. He’s more content, actually excited about food again, and his coat is the shiniest it’s ever been. He’s also got loads more energy, which is both brilliant and slightly chaotic when you own a Cockapoo!”

Benefits of a Raw Diet

Fozzie’s transformation is something we see often when dogs switch to a high‑quality raw diet. Owners typically notice:

·       A shinier, healthier coat

·       Better, more balanced energy

·       Renewed interest in food

·       Cleaner teeth

·       Smaller, firmer poos, a classic sign of improved digestion

Raw Feeding with Kids Around

Raw feeding can work safely in busy family homes, it just needs the same hygiene you’d use when handling raw chicken, plus a few simple boundaries to keep little hands (and paws) safe.

·       Keep raw food sealed and stored high in the fridge

·       Feed in a kid‑free spot

·       Use dog‑only bowls

·       Wash hands after any contact

·       Pick bowls up straight away

·       No touching the dog mid‑meal

·       Teach “Dog’s eating, give them space”
